The Daniil Pashkoff Prize 2022 for Creative Writing by a Non-Native Speaker (hereafter DPP 2022) is a writing competition solely for persons whose first language is not English. It is organised by Writers Ink. e.V. and sponsored by the Fachbereich Kultur of the City of Braunschweig, Diesterweg/Westermann, Gärtner Datensysteme and many others.
There are four categories. You may enter for both prose and poetry.
Poetry: Under 19

Entrants born after 31 January 2003 will be placed in the category under 19. Entrants born
before that date will be placed in the category over 19.
Poetry may be formal or informal and poems must be between 16 and 30 lines long. Entries for prose should contain no less than 1000 and no more than 1400 words.

An entry fee of €10, - (“ten Euros”) will be charged for all entrants. 1 € (“one Euro”) from this entry fee will be donated to a charity for children in need. All participants (under 19 and over 19) can submit a maximum of three texts.

The fee must have been received before your entry can be processed.
Deadline: 15 May 2021, 11:59 p.m.
All work must be the entrant’s own writing and cannot have appeared in print, on a website (including blogs and/or social networking sites), have been broadcasted, or submitted for publication or consideration elsewhere for the duration of the DPP 2022, which ends on Saturday, 11 June, 2022.

All work is to be submitted on our website in the corresponding age group and category. By clicking unto the category you wish to enter, you will be able to submit your entry accordingly.

On confirmation of payment, your entry will be confirmed, assigned a number and made anonymous. Judges will not be privy to the entrant’s name until after the judging process has been completed.
Breach of any of the above named terms and conditions, or false declarations, will lead to disqualification. Writers Ink. e.V. will act in accordance with current German data protection legislation as regards personal data.

Judging is by panel. Judges are appointed at the discretion of Writers Ink. e.V.
Writers of short-listed entries will be notified by DATE. The winning entries will be announced at the Award Ceremony in Braunschweig on 11 June, 2022. Short-listed entrants are requested to confirm their attendance at the Award Ceremony by May 1, 2022. Those unable to attend may nominate a representative.

The award ceremony will take place in the Dornse, Altstadtrathaus, Braunschweig on 11 June, 2022 at 10:00. All participants are cordially invited to attend.

The copyright for each submitted text remains with the author. On entering the DPP 2022, entrants grant Writers Ink. e.V. non-exclusive, worldwide licence over each text. Selections from the prize-winning entries will be published in book form by Writers Ink .e.V. and may appear in electronic format on the Writers Ink. e.V. website (www.writers-ink.de), or in other electronic forms. Each printed author will receive a complimentary copy. Extra copies will be available for purchase.
A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of the publication will go to charity.
